Claire Leibowicz is the Head of the AI and Media Integrity Program at Partnership on AI (PAI), where she has worked since the organization's inception. Under her leadership, the AI and Media Integrity team develops resources for responsible AI that are implemented by practitioners across technology, journalism, civil society, and policy. At PAI, she leads efforts to foster knowledgeable and connected communities, focusing on trustworthy media and emergent technologies such as generative and agentic AI.
Leibowicz oversees PAI's AI and Media Integrity Steering Committee and led the development of PAI's Responsible Practices for Synthetic Media Framework, adopted by organizations including OpenAI, Adobe, the BBC, and Bumble. She also launched PAI's foundational work on AI safety, human-AI collaboration, and algorithmic fairness challenges.
A former Journalism Fellow at Tablet Magazine and Bellagio Fellow at The Rockefeller Foundation, Leibowicz's insights have appeared in publications such as Axios, CNN, Consumer Reports, The New York Times, NPR, MIT Tech Review, WIRED, and the Wall Street Journal. She has presented at conferences including NeurIPS, CHI, ICA, RightsCon, and Trust and Truth Online, and advised companies, governments, and nonprofits on media and responsible AI.
Leibowicz holds a BA from Harvard and a Master's degree from Oxford, where she studied as a Clarendon Scholar and is currently pursuing her doctorate part-time. She is based in New York City.
